Welcome to Mike and Heather's Adoption Homepage!

We are so glad that you are visiting our website.  The purpose of this was to share our experiences as we travel down this road of adopting a child from South Korea.  We have unfortunately had infertility problems over the last 3 years, which has prevented us from having a child.  We feel that adoption is a wonderful choice that we have researched for the last two years and finally pursued it.  Everyday that passes is one day closer to bringing our baby home.  Katelyn is so excited to be a big sister....She talks about it all the time.  We have included her in every step of the way of the adoption process.

We want to thank all of our family and friends that have given us support during our "journey".  We appreciate it and can't wait for the day that you meet the new member of our family!!

Who We Are and Why We Chose Adoption

Heather is a certified veterinary technician.  She received her Associate Degree in Applied Science-Veterinary Technology in 1996. Over the last 10 years she has worked at small animal veterinary clinics and recently started working at the local college as an instructor assistant in the vet tech program.  In her free time, Heather enjoys spending time with her daughter, Katelyn, bowling, horseback riding, walks, hiking, and fishing.

Mike is an electronic assember working for a company in Middleton.  Before that he worked as a delivery driver for a large package delivery company.  In his free time Mike enjoys bowling, spending time with family, fishing, walks, and watching football.

Katelyn is Heather's biological daughter.  She's  11.year old going on 17 of course :).  She is so excited to be a big sister!  Finally she won't be the youngest one anymore (that's her motto!).  Katelyn is a very active girl and participates in many activities including: choir, orchestra, safety patrol, student council, and a bowling league.  She is hoping to take horseback riding lessons soon!

Heather and Mike met in Milwaukee..and have been married for the last 3 years.  Two years ago they moved to Sun Prairie and they are enjoying their new home.

Due to being unable to have a biological child, we had researched adoption over the last two years.  We had many conversations about adoption over those last two years but didn't pursue because (1) the financial aspect and (2) we were somewhat hopeful yet that we would be able to have a biological child.  Two years later after the last failed pregnancy, we decided not to "try" any further.  It wasn't worth the emotional and physical things we were going through.  We felt as though if we continued to try, we would only be trying for another loss and not a child.  Adoption was the best decision we made.  As the adoption creed states, although you won't born from under my heart, you were born in it.  How true that is.  I was adopted (Heather) and know that holds true for my parents and how they feel.

We plan on being open with our child about where he or she has come from.  We want them to know the culture and history about where they were born.  We both feel it's important to be as open as possible.  I know my parents were very open with me.  I don't even remember when they first told me I was adopted.  I just always knew.

So, really, our decision to adopt was based on wanting to become parents, wanting to raise this child together, and providing love and support, kissing the ouchies, rocking he or she to sleep, hearing mama and dada for the first time, watching him or her take their first step, and watching this child learn about life.

We are working with 2 different adoption agencies.  The links for both agencies you can find above.  The primary agency is FAC which is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  Because they are not located in Wisconsin, we had to use another agency to do our homestudy, which is Adoption Advocates.  This is the agency that we have the most contact with.  Julie is our social worker and  has been great!  We are all very comfortable with her (including Katelyn)

UPDATE - Cole is finally home!!!!!  He came home July 25, 2006 and is such a blessing!!!  See the photos page for updated pictures.  Also be sure to check out the fundraiser page to find out about The Bath Brew!!
